The Appropriate Body provides a quality assurance role in the statutory induction of early career teachers (ECTs) in all schools and settings. We ensure ECTs receive their statutory entitlements and that the support, assessment and guidance procedures in place are fair and appropriate.
The appointment of an Appropriate Body is a statutory requirement for the induction period of all ECTs. It is the Appropriate Body that makes the final decision as to whether an ECT has met the Teachers' Standards on the recommendation of the headteacher/principal.
Costs
There are three different approaches to the induction of an Early Career Teacher. The level of checks will vary according to the route which your school has chosen, hence the variation in price.
Schools that engage in the Hub’s Early Career Framework Full Induction Programme in collaboration with the Education Development Trust benefit from a unified offer.
